The platypus may be the strangest mammel that I have ever seen. With it's strange form, this guy looks like a expirement gone wrong. Part duck, part beaver, part cat?! Well, then again, it's actually pretty cute. The platypus lives in eastern Australia, including Tasmania, living it's life in the wonderful water. They eat of of the river floor, eating animals such as crawfish for their meals. But that isn't it to this aquatic creature. This animal is 1 out of the only TWO mammals that lay eggs! Oh, but that's not all! The platypus also has a "sixth sense" similar to the sixth sense of sharks, called electroreception. They use electroreceptors in the skin of their bills to detect the electrical field that gets created when their prey contracts its muscles. COOL! But sadly, the amazing platypus may be coming to it's end. Hunted for fur until a protective law was passed in 1912, the platypus is currently threatened by habitat loss and bycatch. So let's
SAVE THIS DUCK/BEAVER THING!?
