Aaaah… the hagfish. This slime producing creature has a scrumptious diet of the soft body tissue of whale carcass! You probably are thinking right now that these ocean dwelling animals are pretty disturbing, (and yes, you are right), but these animals are very interesting. Hagfish have been around for about 330 million years, and through all this time barely anything has changed about these animals. Even though hagfish do eat quite a bit, they have no stomach or jaws. Instead they have four sets of teeth on their tongues to pull pieces of flesh from their dinner.
Hagfish are pretty amazing, you have to admit, but their population is decreasing. Hagfish are caught intentionally for food and leather, but they also accidentally get scooped up out of their habitats from bottom trawling fishing nets.
